I don't care about the speed of your IDE/editor

I have heard this so many times: "This IDE/editor is much faster than what you're using".

First and foremost: This is most likely not true. The thing you use will probably be the thing you're fastest with. Assuming that means the used tool is faster or makes you faster compared with somthing unfamiliar, is quite odd. How could i be fast using a tool i am not used to? How would i be fast if i am not comfortable with it?

Second and even more important IMHO: It does not matter. If the speed of my typing would actually be a useful measure of my work's quality, i guess i'd be a copy typist. But i am a software developer and there's more to it than just typing. Enjoying the environment and tools i am working with is what makes me comfortable using them. That's also what keeps me from thinking about them too much and makes it a lot easier to focus on the actually interesting things, the actual work that has to be done.

Third and very basic: As developers we just produce text files. What does it matter what editor the next developer uses?
